Summer of Adventure in Rishikesh

In my friend blog, I posted some pictures and a little about my Uttarakhand Memorable Trip this summer. Now it’s time to start the main course.

We all were planning for this trip from a long time and all were very excited specially for river rafting in Holy Ganga River.

We started from Jabalpur on 6th June 2016 and reached Rishikesh in the night on 7th June with around 3-4 hours halt at Delhi.

Auto-Wala dropped us at Ram Jhula. The clock was showing 10; there was silence all around except the roaring sound of The Ganga which was sheer pleasure to the ears. Despite of our long and tiring journey, we all got energized and excited as we walked along the Ganga River.

The roaring sound of the Ganga tearing apart the silence, cold breeze blowing from the river cannot be expressed in words, it was a wonderful experience.

As our Rafting Camps were booked for 8th June, we spent that night in an ashram in which we booked a room earlier.

Next morning, it was time to head towards Marine Drive where we booked our camps. In no time we reached our camps and the view there was just mesmerizing. After hearing a long and boring but important set of instructions from the camp in-charge, we went to our camps to relax a little bit but as the mercury was soaring high we couldn’t resist anymore, put on our life jackets and jumped into the bone chilling water. We played and enjoyed in water until lunch.

After lunch, we were scheduled for River Rafting. It took some time for the preparation of Rafts before we were finally ready to go. So, till that time we again enjoyed in water on a Banana Boat.

River Rafting

“Thank you, Sir” we said after a long set of instructions by our guide and stepped into the Raft. And finally with a shout “All team Forward“, we started rowing and our adventure started. The total rafting distance was 24 Kms.

Very soon, only few minutes after the start, a very small rapid named “Balancing Rapid” came and we were told to stand on the raft and balance ourselves. We were barely able to balance but it was very much fun. After that many medium and small rapids came and all just pumped up the adrenaline level in us. At one point our guide asked us to jump into the water, at first we were a little afraid as all the team members were non-swimmers, but as soon as we jumped, the fear went away in no time we were enjoying and posing for photos ;-) .

Uptill Shivpuri (a place between marine drive and Rishikesh) all was fine but suddenly after Shivpuri, the rapid level increased and we came across the two biggest rapids in the whole rafting – The Roller Coaster and The Golf Course. In both of these rapids our raft was literally jumping and was about to flip but luckily nothing happened. The feeling of passing through the rapids of Ganga cannot be expressed in words, it was so much fun and adventurous too.

After all adrenaline pumping rapids, a little before our end point came Cliff Jumping point. The height of the cliff was around 25 feet from where we had to jump. As usual, we all were very much afraid to jump as we all were non-swimmers and do not have any experience of diving in water even from a much lower height. Jumped and whoaa!! What a wonderful feeling it was :).

After Cliff jump, it was plain ride till end point and this is how our adventure ended. We were very much satisfied and were wishing to do it again soon.

Now a lot of writing part is done, it’s time for some pics now -
