Haridwar Holidays India

Holidays in Haridwar are the best way to spend holidays in India if you are interested in looking at the religious aspect of the country. Haridwar holidays could be the best for all Hindus. They can enjoy peaceful time while on Holidays in Haridwar. It is a nice place to visit. Haridwar is one of the seven sacred cities of India, a city of relics and temples, located on the banks of River Ganges.

The name of the city is translated as “Gateway to God”. Each 12 years from January to May a festival Kumbh-Mela passes in Haridwar, which gathers millions pilgrims.

Last time it has occurred in 1998, the next time Kumbh-Mela will be implemented in 2010. The main events occur during the holiday of Maha Shivaratri when some millions pilgrims make ablution in Ganges.

The central place of pilgrimage in city and the most important Ghat in Haridwar is Har-ki-Pauri. In this place there are divine prints of Lord Vishnu. Here a valley meets sacred Ganges, going down with mountains. Despite of the heat, which is in the city during the summer, waters of Ganges in this place always store a cold of glaciers. Every evening there is the fiery ritual, devoted Ganges for which the set of pilgrims gathers.

They "offer" the river flowers, milk and food and let down the stream burning candlesticks. From here begins the pilgrimage in Char Dham, before which it is necessary for each pilgrim to make ablution in this place.

Favourable days for ablution in Ganges are Purnima - a full moon, Ekadashi - 11th and 26-th lunar day, Amavasya - a new moon and Sankranti - the moments of transition of the Sun from one zodiac sign in another, and also days of a solar and lunar eclipse.

Mansa Devi temple is located on a mountain towering above the city. It is possible to reach there on a cable car. 

In a Southwest on Current Ganges are Located: Temple dedicated to the Sage Parashara, Mahadev Temple, temple of Daksha Prajapati, dedicated to Daksha - a son of Aditi and Brahma, and also Ashram Anandamoi Ma, the legendary Bengalese guru among which followers was Indira Gandhi. 

In Northeast on Current: Lal Mata Temple, which construction has been finished in 1994 and being by an identical copy of Vishnu’s temple in Kashmir. Further it is located Parmarth Ashram, in which the worthy place is borrowed with images of goddess Durga. On the same road, it is located Saptarishi Ashram.
